Pastor Terry Boyd was born in Warren, Michigan. Although he attended church most of his life, Pastor Boyd did not get saved until he was under the ministry of Dr. Mike Allison, pastor of Madison Baptist Church in Madison, Alabama. While living in Alabama, Pastor attended Southeastern Fundamental Baptist College, where he received his Master’s degree and answered the call of God to the mission field of Uganda, East Africa. Brother Terry, his wife, Jill, and their six children spent three years on the mission field, where Brother Terry started four churches and ran a Bible institute. God blessed the work in Uganda, but ultimately the Boyds were chased out of the country by terrorists.
When the Boyds arrived safely back in the States, they had little more than the clothes on their backs. To provide for his family’s immediate needs, Brother Terry ran his own painting business while simultaneously serving as interim pastor at a small church in Tennessee. Ultimately, God called Pastor Boyd back into full time service as a pastor in the state of Florida.
Brother Boyd served at the church in Florida for seven years before he answered the call to become the pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church in November of 2013. Sycamore Baptist Church was supporting a church of the Boyds’ ministry in Uganda, so moving here to Jackson was almost like coming home.
